Hi all,

WINE TASTING – Devine will be telling us about the Rombauer Chard, Zin and Cab this Friday, November 21st. We’ll fill out the lineup with a Pinot Blanc from Valley of the Moon and the Kenwood SB and Merlot. Excellent wines all!

No wine class on the 28th with Thanksgiving and all.

The presentation Friday will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. For the money you get to try the wines during the wine class and compliment them with the best food at any wine class in the state. We are limiting the class size to 45.

MUSIC – New hours! On Saturday, December 6th, there is going be another great night of live jazz. Bryne Donaldson will be here with his sax. Remember there is no cover and no minimum. Just come in and listen to a really talented musician play some really great music. We are changing the start times on those Saturday’s with music to 7 PM so they can play to 9:30.

THANKS – We appreciate all of you that came to listen to Carl from Awesome Wines tell us about some outstanding wines from Australia. And thanks for coming in on Saturday to listen to Bob and Dwight. They are recording their sessions at our shop with the idea of releasing a CD in a few months. Their next appearance will be on the 20th of December.

OTHER – We have always given a discount of 10% if you buy a case (12 bottles) of wine. Now you get the discount when you buy only 6 bottles.

The wine totes are here. And they are great! They have individual pouches for up to six bottles and we’re selling them at cost, $2.50 each, to encourage you to get one. Then each time you buy 2 or more bottles and use your tote, we will give you 25 cents off your purchase. That will save a few trees along the way. Please participate.

We’re giving away a bicycle! The basic idea is that when you buy a couple of bottles of the very reasonably priced Bohemian Highway wines, you get entered in a drawing. They have a Pinot Grigio, a Sauvignon Blanc, a Chardonnay, a Merlot and a Cabernet Sauvignon for less than eight dollars each. Just before Christmas (yes Matilda there is going to be a Christmas this year) on the 19th of December we will have the drawing and someone will win the bike. It is the kind you pedal, a “cruiser”, and not the kind your favorite lawyer rides. And a portion of the proceeds are being donated to Linda’s Secret Santa Shopping Spree.

The Turley wines are very hard to get but we have their Zinfandel from the Ueberroth Vineyards. It is great (and expensive)!

You may have noticed that we have some wines on sale up at the front of the shop. These are excellent wines that are the older vintage or one that we can’t get more of or such. And you can save a few bucks off our already great prices.

We have WiFi available in the shop if you’d like to use it. Just ask for the password.

Have fun,
Liza and Bob

Hi all,

WINE TASTING – We’re going to Australia! Carl from Awesome Wines is going to be here this Friday, November 14th, to show us some spectacular wines. From Triplepoint we’ll try their SB (Sauvignon Blanc), Chardonnay (unlike any you have had) and a Shiraz-Sangiovese blend. Then we’ll taste three wines from the Pretty Sally Estate. They are the Cab, the Cab-Shiraz and the Shiraz. They are stunning!

We are limiting the class size to 45 and our apologies to those we had to turn away last Friday.

MUSIC – New hours! On Saturday, November 15th, there is going be another great night of live jazz. Bob Ravenscroft on piano and Dwight Kilian on stand up bass are going to play. Remember there is no cover and no minimum. Just come in and listen to some really talented musicians play some really great jazz. We are changing the start times on those Saturday’s with music to 7 PM so they can play to 9:30.

THANKS – We had a larger than usual crowd last Friday so thank you for your understanding. Again our apologies to those that didn’t get in. I think 5:15 was the earliest that we have ever had to say “No more room”.

OTHER – We have always given a discount of 10% if you buy a case (12 bottles) of wine. Starting today you get the discount when you buy only 6 bottles.

The wine totes are here! They are very colorful and very useful with 6 sleeves to hold that number of bottles. They sell for $2.50 and you get 25¢ each time you use it.

Hi all,

TUESDAY – Rumor has it that there is some kind of an important occasion on Tuesday. I checked with the Arizona Department of Liquor License and Control and “election days are like any other day.” So as an Independent we invite both Democrats and Republicans to come in after they have voted and watch the results.

WINE TASTING – Ron Feczko from Republic National is going to present the wines this Friday, Nov 7th. And Chef Anthony (Craig Driml) is going to cater the food. We’re going take a short trip around California. We’ll try the Steele Chard Cuvee, their Writers Block Pinot Noir, then the St Francis Merlot, their Cab Sauv, and finish with the St. Francis Old Vine Zin and the 100 year old vine Steele Catfish Vineyard Zin. It should be great!

And it is the kind you pedal, not the kind your favorite lawyer rides.

Hi all,

WINE TASTING – As is too often the case we are going to have a wine class this Friday, October 24th, but I’m not sure who is going to do it nor am I sure what wines we will be doing. More bad planning on my part.

The presentation Friday will start promptly at 6:00 PM. Remember this “ain’t LA” (thank goodness) so don’t be late. The wine class costs $10 per person and all the featured wines are 10% off. Hi all,

WINE TASTING – This Friday, October 17th is my turn. Scott Greenwold from Southern Wines was scheduled to do the class but business got in the way. So we are going to try some of his wines but I’ll be making the presentation AND telling the jokes. It looks like we’ll be trying the Oak Knoll Oregon Pinot Gris, the Dry Creek Fume Blanc, the Esser Oregon Pinot Noir, the 14 Hands Merlot, a Rosenblum Zin and the Sebastiani Cabernet.

We are limiting the class size to 45, although it hasn’t been an issue lately.

MUSIC – Another great night of jazz is coming! Bob Ravenscroft, on the piano, and Dwight Kilian, on the standup bass, will be here on Saturday, October 18th at 6 PM until 8:30 PM. You will be impressed! Remember that there is no cover and no minimum. Just come in and listen to some really talented musicians play some really great jazz.

And Rootdown, as a jazz quartet with guitar, bass, piano and drums, will be playing on Thursday, the 30th. They’ll start at 6 PM and play to 8:30. They haven’t played at the shop in several months so be sure and stop by.

THANKS – Thanks to everyone that came by on Friday to listen to Tom talk about some wonderful wines. The Spellbound wines are great and priced right. Thank you!

OTHER - We’re going GREEN! We’ve ordered some wine totes and will be selling them at cost (with our logo on them so you won’t forget us). Then each time you use one on a purchase of two or more bottles we’ll deduct 25¢ from your bill. You won’t get rich but you’ll help the environment a little.

Liza is having a Jewelry party on October 26. Buy $20 or more in jewelry and you can buy a glass of wine for 25¢. Mark your calendars!

We have the new edition of the publication called Arizona Vines and Wines. It is free, has a lot of information and is beautifully done. Look for it by the cash register next time you check out.
